The number of pictures on Lifestory: Monologue's myspace page featuring the band screaming at the audience with their arms in the air says a lot about them. This band makes beautiful music that is very dynamic and interesting, but most importantly- passionate and intense. Their main singer doesn't really sing- he shouts. This is the one thing that may turn people off at first about them- he has that spoken-word-shouting, mewithoutyou style, and sometimes it can sound ugly. But that mixed with well sung group singalongs and the sheer epic feel of their songs makes it all work. I've never seen them live, but I have a feeling I'd be yelling with my arms in the air, right along with them.
Their EP, "Hold Me In The Wind, My Friend" is incredible. "Wolves Behind Me" is pianos and xylaphones with bouncy yet still sad-sounding melody. "Ultimate!" is dark, driving, and ends with distortion, double bass and screaming going into lone beautiful and spacey guitar. Their best song is "Dancing & Kisses," which goes from a driving build up to passionate scream-to-the-sky vocals about not knowing happiness could exist, all to flutter out to prolonged and peaceful guitar and keyboard quiet. This of course goes to a beautiful multilayered singalong that is simply, for lack of a better word, wonderful. The EP has everything, but most importantly, it showcases a sound all their own. I can't think of any band that sounds like this, and I hope someone out there is listening.

So yea... This is interesting. I was all into it until the guy started to "sing". I have to marinade on it a bit. It's like nothing I have ever heard before.
